Pumps and wells
JM: We had a lovely old watering can and we would go over the pump and get me water.
YC: We had a pump, well not a pump; we had a well beside the cottage. That’s how we had our water. Half the cottages didn’t have water. You had to go to the village pumps to get water. There’s a lot of wells in Port Isaac and that’s why a lot of people had their well in the back kitchen and put down a bucket on a rope and bring up the water that way.
