everybody has a story to tell about their life

Morley Remick and his mother

Joan Murray and Yvonne Cleave, 2013

JM: Can you remember Yvonne, all of the men used to wear the old wrap over aprons/pinnies. T’was like a bundle of fuzz tied in the middle. (Laughter)

YC: And all had their hair in a bun didn’t they? I remember Morley Remick and he used to live at the Slipway in that little cottage. Morley Remick and his mother …. I remember her smoking a clay pipe, long black clothes and a white apron and wear a man’s cap. Every day she would go down with her slop bucket and go down and go down to the beach. There was no toilets or anything. That’s Morley’s cottage call it now.
