Marshall Bailey Collings

Flying Officer 129729 nav./w. Op. Marshall Bailey Collings was in 29 Sqdn., Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve based at RAF Bradwell Bay in Essex. He was the Navigator/Wireless Operator in a Bristol Beaufighter, responsible for defending Britain from incoming Germen aircraft. He was killed 21st May 1943 aged 21, when his plane crashed into the sea off Brightlingsea. His memorial is in St Endellion Churchyard (Grave E 159). He is not on our War Memorial. He was the son of Leonard and Marie Collings, and was born at Trehaverock cottage in St Endellion, and also lived in Port Quin, and Treswarrow.
