Music and fishing have been an intrinsic part of the Port Isaac story. Over the centuries, when fishing was the main support for most of the village singing would be heard from the old chapels, public bars and harbour, where outdoor church services were held up until recent times.
Port Isaac has proudly produced award-winning singers on all fronts including the (very!) famous Fisherman’s Friends, whose story has turned into two movies and a stage musical. Who would have thought such triumphs from a small Cornish fishing village?
This exhibition salutes the lives of the fishermen and women of Port Isaac over the years as well as everyone else who could ‘hold a note’.
